Review of a Revue

If you like your Revue comedy raw, rough, and more or less ready, than “A Room With Revue” is just right for you. This eclectic collection of sketch and revue comedy is at times a little hit and miss, but those numerous hits make up for the odd miss. From a hilarious detective, to a German recycling nazi and that beast we all love to hate… the Melbourne Model, nothing and no one seems off bounds to these three wizards of wit. While most aspects are brilliantly written, and you are sure to get a decent amount of laughs out of it, the performances often felt a tad unfinished. It was as if the group had thought of the premise, character, and body of the sketch… but not always of an exit strategy of how to get out of it. Also, have your hearing aids on maximum people because the volume and projection could be VERY SOFT… But enough bad-mouthing of a performance I thoroughly enjoyed! Like all sketch comedy it was a mix bag of laughs, a lucky dip if you will; sweet and exciting, but leaving you feeling slightly unsatisfied by the end. We want to see more! An excellent chuckle to be had by all.
“A Room With Revue” will be showing in the Mudclub on the 24th August at 10:30pm, and in the Temporary Theatre on the 21st at 1pm.
