From the Archives!

Muddy leaks blogging

The thing with blogging is you need the time to blog. At the moment with Mudfest stuff involving every non-working (and for me non-packing) minute time is hard to come by. But in some ways this is of course really, really good as this festival is going to be INCREDIBLE. Caps Lock Totally Warrented.

So as it happens I am on the train coming into rehearsals and seizing this opportunity to tap a few updates.

Firstly, have you seen how incredible the tramstops are looking? Especially the one at Melbourne University. Such colour! Such a kaleidoscope. Very, very, very pretty. Congratulations to everyone involved in the set up and especially to Erin who has co-ordinated the plan as well as sewing endless patchwork-y marvels to bring some life to the Melbourne University tramstop.

The Tastings Masterclass happened and apparently went well. With the mentors providing good feedback for the performers it was great to see how much the work is developing. Even a short rehearsal period produces truly marvellous stuff in the theatre

The first Creative Writing Workshop has been moved due to outside factors so the lovely and talented Lally Katz will be leading the event from 1.30pm in the Guild Theatre (I think?) this Thursday 18th August. Think of it as an aperitif to the opening night. Bring your pens and your paper and a will to write. For only $5 you will be kicking yourself at missing the opportunity!

Tickets are selling bit by bit. Remember it is always a good idea to book ahead for events that you are wanting to see. We here at Muddy Leaks have learnt the hard way with that. It looks as if Wait has completely sold out without a reviewer booked in – we need to sort this asap but the message is – do not let this be you! Book now ____.

Remember also that because of the way Mudfest is structured some evenings you can catch two or three shows in a row in the same venue – or switch it around a bit too. There is no end to all the combinations that you can create as part of your Mudfest experience! Why not come to Is This Too Framed? A Directed Reading and then stick around (with a quick drink in between) for the grand opening of Zoo Story. Or perhaps it is worth noting that if you arrive half an hour before the show in the Open Stage you can catch Absence before hand in the foyer.

There is always something exciting and happening in the Mudclub and also there are many things occurring during the day. It’s lunch time and suddenly the recycling bin you are popping your paper waste into starts growling – what is going on? EVERYTHING SPEAKS! Or when waiting do be sure to discover all the installations and visual art that is part of the festival

So busy this didn't even get posted until AFTER festival has opened. Lovely opening night everyone. Totally exicted about this thing! x Lilly
